Recognizing Diabetes Symptoms

For most people the diabetes symptoms may not look very serious when they first experience them. The reality, a great majority of diabetics go undiagnosed. According to current study it is estimated there are 17 million diabetics in the United States alone, and it is estimated that 5.9 million diabetics have yet to be diagnosed with this life threatening disease.
Most diabetics may even express a kind of disbelief when they are diagnosed with diabetes. The diabetic symptoms might seem so minor that people don’t see any different with their condition. Because the symptoms can look rather minor when they first start they might be assumed to other health problems. Unfortunately diabetes is a really serious disease and it is actually the number six deat caused by disease in the United States.
Based on the information from American Diabetes Association, the most common diabetes symptoms include:
• Frequent urination that is coming from high glucose level which rise blood flow to the kidneys.
• Excessive thirst which is the results from dehydration from the increased urinary output.
• Extreme hunger since the glucose is unable to get into the body’s cells from the insulin lack the body suffers from the energy deficit, leading to hunger.
• Unusual weight loss. Our body can actually loses weight since it breaks down the proteins and fats to make up for the perceived energy deficit
• Increased fatigue. It is caused by the decrease in energy
• Irritability
• Blurry vision. It is caused by the increased blood volume that causes a swelling of the eye lens.
It’s quite easy to see why these symptoms might be mistaken for something other than diabetes. There are various daily conditions that could cause some of those symptoms. For instance the stress of everyday life can cause to fatigue or irritability and also depression that can also lead to weight loss. Any number of minor illnesses such as colds or the flu may also bring diabetes like symptoms.
When our diabetes gets progressively worse so will these symptoms. Another thing to remember is that unlike symptoms related with other illness in normal life these diabetes symptoms will not just go away. Any time you experience any of those symptoms and they do not go away after several days, it is important to schedule a doctors appointment and discuss your symptoms with a physician.
The sooner diabetes is diagnosed the sooner prevention can be managed. It is important since the longer it is not treated the more damage it can cause to the body and its organ systems.
